risk ofserious injuryordeath when
filling portable fuelcontainers:
Ð Always placethecontainer on
the ground whenfilling.
Ð Do not use electronic devices
when filling.
Ð Keep thepump nozzle incontact
with thecontainer whileyouare
filling it.
Ð Use only approved portablefuel
containers forflammable liquid.
CAUTION
. Iffuel isspilled onthe vehicle body,
flush itaway withwater toavoid
paint damage.
. Insert thecap straight intothefuel-
filler tube, thentighten untilthe
fuel-filler capclicks. Failure totight-
en the fuel-filler capproperly may cause
the
malfunction indicator
light (MIL) toilluminate. Ifthe
light illuminates becausethefuel-
filler capisloose ormissing, tighten
or install thecap and continue to
drive thevehicle. The
light
should turnoffafter afew driving
trips. Ifthe
light does notturn
off after afew driving trips,havethe
vehicle inspected byaNISSAN deal-
er.

. The LOOSE FUELCAPwarning
message willbedisplayed ifthe
fuel-filler capisnot properly tigh-
tened. Itmay take afew driving trips
for the message tobe displayed.

The LOOSE FUELCAPwarning message is
displayed onthe vehicle information display
when thefuel-filler capisnot tightened correctly
after thevehicle hasbeen refueled. Itmay take a
few driving tripsforthe message tobe
displayed. To turn offthe warning message, do
the following procedure:
1. Remove andinstall thefuel-filler capas
previously described assoon aspossible.
2. Tighten thefuel-filler capuntil itclicks.
3. Push thetrip computer modeswitch
